Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a wedding videographer cost in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia?
Wedding videography in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area typically ranges from $1,500 to $10,000+, depending on hours of coverage and deliverables. JP Collection's standalone wedding video collections start at $2,300 for the Essential Film, $3,500 for the Signature Film, and $6,500 for the Diamond Film. Most DMV couples booking video-only coverage invest between $3,500 and $6,500. Exact pricing is quoted individually based on your date, venue, and vision.
What's the difference between a documentary edit and a highlight film?
A documentary edit is a long-form, chronological film of your entire wedding day. A highlight film is a shorter, cinematic piece — 3 to 10 minutes — that distills the best moments into a stylized, emotional story. Most couples keep both: the highlight film is what you share, the documentary edit is what you keep.
Why does the documentary edit look different from the highlight film?
Because the two films do different jobs. The documentary edit preserves your day in real time and in full, so nothing is cut — your vows and toasts play out exactly as they happened. The highlight film is crafted like a short movie, with music, pacing, and stylized color. One is the archive; the other is the trailer.
What's included in a JP Collection wedding video package?
Every JP Collection video package includes on-site filming of your wedding day, a pre-wedding planning and timeline consultation, professional editing with fully licensed music, and delivery through a private, password-protected online gallery. Every package includes a cinematic highlight film of 4–8 minutes. Add-ons include a same-day or next-day teaser, an extended documentary edit, drone footage, and raw unedited footage on request.
Can we choose the music for our wedding film?
Yes. You'll choose your soundtrack from our curated, pre-licensed music library — a collection we've already secured full licensing for, so every track is cleared for you to share freely on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok without copyright issues. Browse the library and pick what matches the tone and pacing of your day, or tell us your favorite artists and genres and we'll recommend tracks that fit. If you have a specific song in mind that isn't in our library, we can discuss it separately — sourcing and licensing an outside track carries an additional fee, which we'll quote before moving forward.
How long does it take to receive our wedding film?
JP Collection delivers a same-week teaser within 7-10 days after your wedding when added to your package, and your completed wedding film within 6–10 weeks. Highlight films are delivered first, followed by any documentary or extended edit included in your package. You'll receive a private, link to view, download, and share your film in full resolution.
Do you offer a same-day or next-day wedding teaser?
Yes. A short same-day or next-day teaser is available as an add-on to any video package — a quick preview clip you can share with family and friends right away, well before your full wedding film is delivered.
Do you film weddings in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia?
Yes. JP Collection is based in Fairfax, Virginia and films weddings throughout Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland, plus destination weddings on request.
Do you travel for destination wedding films?
Yes. Beyond the DMV, JP Collection travels for wedding films throughout the East Coast and is available for destination weddings nationwide and internationally. Destination and travel packages are quoted individually based on location, travel, and accommodation.
What size video team will film our wedding?
JP Collection scales its video team to match your coverage. Smaller and mid-size weddings are typically filmed by one to two videographers; larger weddings of 100+ guests, or events with the ceremony and reception in separate locations, are filmed by a two-videographer team so no moment is missed. Your exact team size is confirmed during your consultation based on your package and day-of timeline.
Do you offer wedding photography and videography together?
Yes. Most JP Collection couples book photo and video together, which we recommend — one coordinated team working from the same shot list and timeline typically costs 20–30% less than hiring two separate studios and produces a more cohesive final gallery and film. Combined photo + video collections start at $4,200.
What happens if our wedding runs behind schedule?
Weddings rarely run exactly on time, and JP Collection plans for that from the start. We build buffer time into every timeline and stay in close communication with your planner and coordinator throughout the day. If your event runs significantly over your contracted coverage hours, overtime is available at a transparent hourly rate quoted in advance in your contract — you will never be surprised by a charge.
Can we get the raw, unedited footage from our wedding film?
Yes. Raw, unedited footage is available on request for any wedding video package. Most couples choose their finished, professionally edited highlight film as their primary keepsake, but complete unedited files can be delivered as an add-on if you'd like the full source footage archived.
